The 14th Congress of National Southeast Asian Librarians (CONSAL XIV) themed “Towards dynamic libraries and information services in Southeast Asian countries” will kick off in Hanoi on April 21.

The congress, hosted by Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, aims to strengthen solidarity and cooperation among the regional librarians.

It is also a good opportunity for Vietnamese librarians to study and share experiences, and seek cooperation partners.

The congress is expected to draw the participation of 800 representatives from library systems within Vietnam and 26 countries in the region.

The event will feature performances and exhibitions on library equipment technology in addition to meetings among library officials.

The three-day congress will also hear 131 speeches, focusing on enhancing the dynamism and effectiveness of library and information practices in regional countries, thus ensuring CONSAL’s sustainability.
