The Vietnamese Museum of Ethnology will host an international seminar in Hanoi from November 17-20 to discuss the role of museums in promoting sustainable urban development.
The seminar will be attended by representatives of museums and urban anthropologists from Vietnam and other countries in the Mekong region. It will focus on emerging issues and hear a number of case studies.
In the context of high economic growth in Vietnam and many other Asian countries, anthropological and ethnological museums have played an important role in promoting better urban spaces.
The seminar is part of the cooperation agreement reached by Southeast Asia’s museums and anthropologists at their meeting in Kunming, China, in 2006.
