A colourful festival of parallel sentences, flowers and beverages will be held in Hanoi from January 25 to February 2 to welcome the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.

The information was released at a press conference held in Hanoi on January 18.

Diverse activities will be held to promote the traditional cultural values of the Vietnamese people during the Tet holiday, including the putting up of an ancestral altar and worship activities. Pagoda monks and nuns will talk about how to make the altar as well as other worshiping customs during the Tet holiday.  Parallel sentences, including those that won the Parallel Sentences Contest, will be exhibited at the festival.

Furthermore, a large area will be reserved for showcasing Vietnamese wines. Another highlight will be an introduction to the Dao ethnic group’s wine brewery techniques.

On the fringe of the event, the 2nd contest to select the best Vietnamese wines will be carried out with the aim of honouring traditional values and making a list of top Vietnamese wines.
