The festvial was celebrated to welcome the Party and the nation in the renewal process during the traditional Lunar New Year festival (Tet) and the movement towards the 1,000 anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.
The Hanoi Spring Festival took place on the morning of February 17 at Ly Thai To garden, Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc square and Ba Trieu-Hang Khay crossroads. Organised by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Information (DCI) and other relevant departments, the festival attracted around 2,000 paraders and 18 art troupes from districts and precincts.
Speaking at the festival, DCI deputy director Nguyen Khac Loi emphasised that Hanoi will be 1,000 years old soon to begin a new page in its history. The great event marks the glorious history and a motive for Hanoians in particular and Vietnamese people in general to lift the city to new heights to deserve the heroic capital and the city of peace.
Thang Long-Hanoi is a thousand-year-old civilised land which is home to the special cultural identities of the nation. It has a large number of historical relics, ancient architectural projects and unique traditional cultural treasures.
Aiming to preserve and promote the traditional beauties, the festival featured cultural space and festivities of this thousand-year-old civilised land. During the festival, a wide range of activities took place, including traditional art shows, dance sport, human chess matches, lion and dragon dances, gong and drum performances, a martial arts display, rice cooking contest and a royal procession.
