To date, the capital city has completed 33 major projects to make Hanoi greener, cleaner and more beautiful, according to Ngo Thi Thanh Hang, Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee and deputy head of the National Steering Committee on the anniversary.
Among the works completed for the celebration are the Hanoi Museum, the Saint Giong statue, Statues of Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Ton Duc Thang, Thong Nhat (Independence) Park, Hanoi-Amsterdam Gifted High School , Beltway 3, Thang Long Boulevard, a giant embroidered picture entitled “Coi Xua” (Old Origins) and the Ceramic Way along the Red River.
Following UNESCO’s recognition of the 82 laureate steles from the Le-Mac dynasties in the Temple of Literature as world culture heritage, the Thang Long Imperial Citadel has also recently been recognised by UNESCO, she said.
The 10-day anniversary celebration will bring together many politicians, cultural activists and scientists from across the country and foreign visitors.
A ceremony will open the festival in the morning of October 1 at the Ly Thai To Garden. The celebrations will conclude with a meeting and a march and parade at the Ba Dinh Square on October 10.
As many as 38 foreign and 20 local art troupes have registered to perform during the festival, and thousands of antiques will be on display to help visitors learn more about the world cultural heritage sites in Hanoi.
