The Spanish embassy and Vietnam-Spain Friendship association held a ceremony at the Hanoi National Library on April 23 to introduce Spain’s cultural programmes and donate nearly 180 books of Spainish contemporary literature.

Addressing the ceremony, the Spanish ambassador in Vietnam Soleda Fuentes expressed hope that Vietnamese readers, who love the Spanish language, will enjoy these books. “On the occasion, we also displayed posters to portray the development of Spanish writing history to help Vietnamese readers learn more about our culture”, said Ms Fuentes.

On the occasion, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has also co-operated with a number of libraries in the country to organise a Week for Reading books from April 22-28 to meet the people’s demand for new literature in the context of international integration.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) has selected April 23 as World Day for Reading books.
