•  Hanoi hosts sports, tourism, film & TV festival

The event has attracted representatives of 25 domestic and 42 overseas studios from 23 countries and territories over the world.

Of 145 films, which will be screened during the festival, 70 cover sports and 75 tourism.

The Vietnamese films include ‘Duong Dua’ (The Race), ‘Le hoi dam trau’ (Buffalo Slaughtering), ‘Le hoi cong chieng’ (Gong Festival).

The jury consists of foreign and domestic, script-writers, film directors and producers, as well as People’s Artists well-known as Le Thi, Nguyen Thi Hong Ngat, Hoang Dung and Khac Loi.

In his opening speech, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Huynh Vinh Ai described the festival as a practical event to honour works of high artistic value that aim to promote the process of national development and global integration in the fields of culture, sports and tourism.

It provides a good chance for Vietnam to introduce its culture, land and people to international friends, he added.

The first FICTS festival was first held in Monaco in 1982. Vietnam has taken part in the festival 12 times since it became an official member of the FICTS in 1999.
