Hanoi has secured its top position in the medal tally of the 18th National Junior Karatedo Championships, which ended in the northern province of Lang Son on May 23.
The champion bagged six gold, four silver and seven bronze medals, followed by Binh Duong with six gold, three silver and six bronze medals. Can Tho came third with five gold, three silver and nine bronze medals.
The six-day event had drawn nearly 500 athletes from 40 teams nationwide who competed in both Kata and Kumite events according to different weight categories (40-60kg for men and 40-56kg for women). They were divided into the three age groups of 14-16, 16-18 and 18-20.
The championships aimed to help young athletes improve their skills in preparation for regional and international competitions.
