The 217^th anniversary of the Ngoc Hoi-Dong Da Victory (1789-2006) was celebrated at Dong Da Cultural Park in Hanoi, drawing the participation of Deputy Minister of National Defence Lieutenant Nguyen Huy Hieu and representatives from Hanoi, HCM City, Hue, Nam Dinh, Hai Phong, Thai Nguyen, Ha Tay and Quang Ninh.

At the ceremony, delegates reviewed the glorious Ngoc Hoi-Dong Da victory 217 years ago. In spring 1789, national hero Nguyen Hue from Tay Son was crowned emperor and then defeated 290,000 Qing invaders to liberate Thang Long which is now the capital city of Hanoi.

After the incense-offering ceremony, many cultural activities were held such as Vietnamese popular opera, Quan Ho folk-singing, dragon dance and human and Chinese chess.
