Ha Long Bay is now listed among the new Seven Natural Wonders of the World, according to the New Open World Organization.

The New Open World announced the initial results of the voting to the Management Board of Ha Long Bay by fax on November 12.

The New Seven Natural Wonders of the World include the Amazon in South America, Ha Long Bay in Vietnam, Iguazu Fall in Argentina and Brazil, Jeju Island in the Republic of Korea, Komodo Island in Indonesia, Puerto Pricesa Underground River in the Philippines and Table Mountain in South Africa.

Ha Long Bay surpassed more than 400 natural wonders in over 200 nations and territories around the globe to be listed among the 28 most beautiful landscapes.

Ha Long Bay, recognized twice as a UNESCO World Heritage site, consistently ranked high on the list for the seven new natural wonders throughout the four years of the campaign.

The final results of the voting will be unveiled early next year. The governments of the new natural wonders will be invited to attend the conferment ceremony.

A gala will be held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Hanoi on the evening of November 12 to celebrate Ha Long Bay's success. It will be broadcast live by Vietnam Television.
