Ha Long Bay has continuously been listed among the top 10 of more than 200 world beauty spots since January 2008.

According to results shown on the website of the New Open World organization www.new7wonders.com on February 17, Ha Long Bay was astonishingly placed third, just after Bangladesh’s Cox’s Bazar beach and India’s Sundarbans forest, on a list of 200 world beauty spots nominated to be one of the seven new wonders of the world. This is the highest place Ha Long Bay has reached so far since the vote was launched in August 2007. Before and during the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, it ranked sixth among them.

According to the New Open World’s website, besides Ha Long Bay, Vietnam also nominated two other spots, Phong Nha - Ke Bang cave and Fansipan mountain, and both have ranked among the top 10. Phong Nha – Ke Bang now sits in 6th position, while Fansipan mountain in 9th position.
