One of the world's most recorded mezzo-sopranos, American Jennifer Larmore, will sing at the Hanoi Opera House on May 18.

The one-time Grammy award winner said at a press conference at the Hanoi Hilton Hotel on May 16 that she was very happy about the warm reception in Hanoi.

Larmore is recognised as an outstanding American mezzo-soprano who has parlayed operatic success in Europe into international stardom. She has produced a total of more than 70 CDs for Teldec, RCA, Harmonia Mundi, Deutsch Gram-mophon, Arabesque, Opera Rara, Bayer, Naive, Chandos, VAI and Cedille labels.

Pianist Antoine Palloc, a native of Nice, on the French Mediterranean, has been Ms Larmore's recital partner for 10 years.

They have recorded an album of American songs titled My Native Land on the Teldec label and a DVD, Jennifer Larmore in Performance, on Video Artists International.

The concert, at Hanoi Opera House, is number 11 in the Hennessy Concert Series. Hennessy has also arranged for a simulcast on a giant video screen in the Opera House plaza.

The concert will also be broadcast live on Vietnam Television.
