The Committee for Ethnic Minorities has said that it is planning to carry out four State budget-funded projects to improve the cultural lives of ethnic groups between 2006 and 2010.

The most important projects are to set up cultural and information centres of national standards in 70 percent of villages and hamlets; 85 percent of communes, wards and district towns; 80 percent of districts, precincts and provincial towns; and 90 percent of provinces and cities.

To ensure the effectiveness of these institutions, at least 90 percent of the personnel working in cultural and information centres at provincial levels, 70 percent at district levels, and 30 percent at commune levels are required to have higher education.

The other projects aim to build public library systems and improve the cultural and spiritual lives of ethnic minorities in a number of mountainous and disadvantaged areas.
