GM Liem sees fifth draw at Spice Cup
Defending champion Le Quang Liem experienced his fifth draw at the ongoing Spice Cup Chess Festival in the US on October 17.
The Vietnamese Grandmaster tied with Wesley So of the Philippines and scored 2.5 points after five rounds.
The result put Liem in third place along with Chinese player Liren Ding, while So held onto the top spot with three points.
In other matches, France's Maxime Vachier Lagrave shared first place with So after beating Georg Meier of Germany while Ding scored a win over Csaba Balogh of Hungary.
In the next round, Liem will play Meier.
