GM Liem held to draw at Int’l Chess Champs
(VOV) - Chess Grandmaster Le Quang Liem was held to a draw in his November 17 fourth round match against Azerbaijani opponent Gadir Guseinov at the ongoing Furajha International Chess Championships in UAE.
From the advantaged position of the white player, Liem could not capitalise and defeat Gadir Guseinov, who is ranked much lower than him in the latest FIDE standings.
Liem has now earned 2.5 points after four games, missing an opportunity to return to the leading group of competitors currently sitting on 3 and 3.5 points.
Liem will meet another Azerbaijani player, Altaj Safarli (ELO 2620), in his upcoming fifth round match.
