The event will feature violinist Bui Cong Duy and pianist Pham Nguyen Anh Vu, performing Concerto Grosso, a work for violin, piano, percussion and string orchestra, composed by Nguyen Manh Duy Linh, a graduate of the Russian-based Magnitogorsk State Conservatory.

Duy, 30, began his career when he was eight years old by winning first prize at the Young Violin Talent Competition launched in HCM City in 1989.

He got his master's in violin at Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory in 2006, and also performed in many concerts at home and abroad.

Under Schumann, the orchestra will perform Mozart's Symphony No 40 in G Minor, one of the composer's most popular works for the orchestra, among his 600 works in opera, orchestra and chamber music.

The evening will open with Beethoven's Egmont Overture, a composition written to accompany the play Egmont, written by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.

Born in 1983 in Freiburg, Schumann studied piano and conducting at the Franz-List Music Conservatory. He began working for St Gallen Theatre in Switzerland after graduation in 2007. He is now with the Bavarian State Opera.

He has performed with international orchestras, including the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and Philharmonia Orchestra London.

The conductor has also performed in Ha Noi and HCM City, working with the Vietnam Music Institute Symphony Orchestra and the HBSO.
