A Gala was held by the Vietnam Dynamic Student Association in New South Wales (VDS), Australia, attracting nearly 1,000 Vietnamese and international students and dozens of Vietnamese officials in Sydney.

Gala is the biggest event held by the VDS in September every year to tighten solidarity and create a playground for students to perform their talents.

This year’s theme “A new day” keeps alive Vietnamese students’ dream of better integrating into Australia, studying and broadening their knowledge to serve the homeland.

With such meaning, Gala 2007 received support from the IDP Education Australia, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Australia and Vina World Travel of the Vietnamese community.

Students from Macquarie University, UTS brought to the gala Vietnamese and international songs, dances, fashion shows and short plays. The organising board granted certificates of merits to outstanding individuals who have made great contributions to the student movements in New South Wales over the past years.

On the occasion, VDS launched a donation campaign to victims of the bridge disaster in Can Tho City.
