The French University Centre in Vietnam (PUF) opened its first school year at the Hanoi National University on October 10 in the presence of Tran Van Nhung, Deputy Minister of Education and Training, Jean-Francois Blarel, French Ambassador and representatives from six French universities.

In his opening address, Prof. Dr. Dao Trong Thi, President of the Hanoi National University, said the centre’s first school year marks a new stage of development in the relations between Vietnam and France on education and scientific research. He expressed his belief that the Hanoi PUF will become a model of international cooperation in tertiary education in the region.

The centre offers four training programmes, including an undergraduate programme on business administration, a master programme on international project management and appraisal, a master programme on information system and technology and a PhD programme on law. Master programmes on labour psychology and career guidance, and mechanical engineering are scheduled to start in 2007.
