An exhibition “Sai Gon 1955 – Ho Chi Minh City 2005 in the air” has opened in Hanoi to introduce photos of Ho Chi Minh City during the past 50 years through the lens of French veteran photographer Raymond Cauchetier.
Through 20 photos, Raymond Cauchetier hopes to bring visitors an overview of the development of Ho Chi Minh City from a country-side town to a modern and attractive economic hub of Vietnam.
According to photographer Cauchetier, Sai Gon in 1955 was a town with green-tree boulevards and river channels, while Ho Chi Minh City in 2005 emerged as a big and modern hub with a population of 8 million people.
Raymond Cauchetier, born in 1920, began his career in Sai Gon when he was 32. Cauchetier took photos of Vietnam during war-time and the Vietnamese nation. His mobile exhibition “Vietnam Portrait” has been running in the US for many years since 1964.
The exhibition on Ho Chi Minh City this time will last through October 31.
