Coupe de Pouce Vietnam, a humanitarian organisation in the capital, organized an exhibition on May 9, featuring entries in its fourth annual photography contest at the French Cultural Centre L' Espace.

The show entitled “Vietnam Vos Photos Coupe de Coeur”, or “Photos that Make Your Heart Beat”, displays pictures taken by amateur French photographers during their journeys across the nation.

Many of the photos capture the unique beauty of daily lives in Vietnam, whether it be a quick nap on the train or a market scene in Can Cau Village, located in northern Lao Cai province.

Around 25 shots will be selected to win awards and a spot in the group's 2008 calendar.

Viewers are invited to choose their favourites alongside a panel of judges, said organizers.

The photos will be on display at the centre in 24 Trang Tien Street for the next two weeks. Afterwards, the prints can be purchased for VND200,000 (US$12.50) each.

All money collected from selling the photos and calendars will be used to support the organization’s charitable projects in Vietnam.
