85-year-old Prof. Georges Condominas, a renowned French ethnologist, has spared no effort to introduce the rich culture of the ethnic minorities living in the Central Highlands to the world by collecting and displaying their ecological items in museums worldwide.

Mr Condominas, who has been conducting his ecological research in Vietnam since 1940, discovered the lithopone, one of the precious ancient musical instruments of Vietnam. He also made significant contributions to the establishment of the Vietnam Ethnological Museum.

In recognition of his contributions, the Vietnam Institute of Social Science will present Mr Condominas with an insignia “For the Cause of Social Science” on March 12.
