Vietnamese classical music lovers will have an opportunity to enjoy pieces of work by composers such as Beethoven, Tschaikovsky and Mendelssohn, performed by the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by the talented Gudni Emilsson of Iceland and violinist Yoon Jin Kim (Republic of Korea) serving as concert-meister on December 20-21 at Hanoi Opera House.

Conductor Gudni A. Emilsson was born in 1964. He studied violin at Reykjavik Conservatoire, then studied abroad in Germany and earned a masters degree in piano and conducting at Trossingen Conservatoire.

He has been an art director for the Tbingen Kammerorchester symphony orchestra since 1999. In 2005, he became art director of Camerata Bohemica Praque, and conductor of the Thailand Philharmonic symphony orchestra. As a conductor, Gudni A. Emilsson often goes on tour in Europe and many other countries around the world.

In Vietnam, he also had successful performances in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in 2005, 2006 and 2007 during concerts organised by the Goethe Institute. The next event in 2008 will be the fourth time he has performed here.

Vietnamese classical music lovers can register to receive complimentary tickets for the concert this year at the Goethe Institute, address 56-58 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, Hanoi.
