Hanoi’s music lovers had a chance to enjoy a solo performance given by famous German cellist, Frank Wolff, at the Goethe Hanoi Institute, 56-58 Nguyen Thai Hoc, Hanoi, at 8pm on November 15.
With his cello, he played pieces through many epochs of musical history, from Johann Sebastian Bach through the European Classical and Romantic periods to Jimi Hendrix and John Cage.
For a nearly half a century, Frank Wolff has performed in many European, American and Asian countries. This is his second visit to Vietnam after the first in 1996.
Born in 1945, shortly after the Second World War, Frank Wolff showed his passion for playing the cello. He studied music in Freiburg, then philosophy in Frankfurt. After many years of further cello studies, he became the member of an orchestra and a string quartet in Berlin.
