During the festival, audiences will have the chance to enjoy 19 melodies performed by artists from Hanoi, Nam Dinh, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Ha Tay, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc and Ninh Binh.

The festival, jointly organised by the Vietnam Television (VTV) and Nam Dinh provincial authorities, aims to discover indigenous and distinctive melodies of folksongs. This is also a good chance for artists to meet and share experience in an effort to restore, preserve and promote folksongs of localities.

Best folksongs and artists will be selected for the final round of a national folksong contest, scheduled for April 2007.
