Eighty paintings by 30 Vietnamese artists will be on show for the first time in Rome, Italy next month. The Exhibition of Vietnamese Modern Paintings will begin a series of activities to be organised during the Vietnam Cultural Month in Rome.

The paintings will be displayed at the Vittoriano Museum for one month, said exhibition organiser Nguyen Huu Hung, a Vietnamese-Italian who returned to settle in Vietnam in 1995. The Italian government conferred the title of Knight on Mr Hung in 2000 in recognition of his contribution to promoting Vietnam-Italy relationship.

Italian sculptor Angelo Bucarelli is selecting lacquer paintings and other works for the exhibition.
