The first festival for young people from ethnic minorities will take place in the Culture-Tourism Village of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups in Dong Mo, Son Tay, Hanoi on April 17, with the participation of thousands of young people in ethnic minority.

According to Ho Anh Tuan, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the festival’s theme is “Vietnamese youth preserve and develop the traditional cultures of ethnic minority groups”.

The event honours Vietnam's Ethnic Minority Cultural Day (April 19) in response to Youth Year 2011.

There will be a variety of activities during the festival. On April 17, delegates will visit the statue for the heroic martyrs and Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum. Later the same day, a seminar on preserving and developing traditional cultural values during the renewal process will be organised, and a movement to mobilise young people all over the country to donate objects to the Culture-Tourism Village of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups will be launched.

An art performance will be broadcast on Vietnam Television and there will be a youth camp and folk games aimed to attract thousands of young people.
