The first copyright trading floor will open in Ho Chi Minh City on April 26 and later in Hanoi on May 16 to mark World Book and Copyright Day (April 24). The trading floor is the result of cooperation between Vietbooks and the Copyright Agency.

The copyright trading floor will bridge the gap between authors and businesses and operate like an auction floor. Authors whose works have not been published can send their works to the trading floor to look for investors. Of special note is that their works will not be vetted by any arts council.

In the coming period, the floor will mainly explore cultural and arts works by domestic authors on subjects such as painting, photography, sculpture, and architecture.

The floor is planned to open for one session every month. In each session, each author will introduce only one piece of work to investors. If the investors agree to order the work, the seller will repay 10 percent of the price of the work to the trading floor as a transaction fee.

In addition, the trading floor has an information center to introduce new works.

Le Tran Truong An, general director of the Vietnam Book and Directory (Vietbooks), said he is really aware of the fifty-fifty chance of success on the trading floor. However, Mr An said, it is still necessary for the trading floor to abolish out-dated art transactions in Vietnam.
