Nine contestants in the three categories (symphony, folk and light music) participated in the final round of the Sao Mai (Morning Star) Television Singing Contest at Vinpearl Land Resort on the south central coast of Nha Trang city on July 15.

Morning Star is a popular musical contest that is held once every 2 years in alternation with another TV competition called Morning Star-Rendezvous. The contest aims to discover and reward singers with potential nationwide.


After nearly four months, the organising board chose nine from nearly 6,000 contestants across the country for the final round.


The 3 finalists for symphony are Nguyen Phuc Tiep and Nguyen Hien Anh from Hanoi and Le Anh Dung from Thanh Hoa province. In the folk music category, they are Dinh Thi Thanh Le from central Ha Tinh province, Bui Thu Huyen and Tran Thi Thu Ha from Hanoi. Tran Hoang Nghiep from southern Can Tho city, Nguyen Thi Thu Phuong and Pham Ha Linh from Hanoi competed in the light music category.


Final results:

First prize worth VND20 million was presented to Le Anh Dung from Thanh Hoa province in the symphony category.

In the folk category, Dinh Thi Thanh Le from central Ha Tinh province won the first prize.

Pham Ha Linh crowned in the light music category.

Six remaining contestants won second prizes worth VND15 million each.
