A seminar on Vietnamese short films in the context of international integration was held in Ho Chi Minh City on December 9 in the framework of the 16th National Film Festival.

Delegates to the seminar, including Vietnamese film makers and their colleagues from Laos, Cambodia, Finland, China, the Republic of Korea and the US, pointed out that lack of an effective promotional strategy is the main reason why Vietnamese short films fail to reach a wide audience both at home and abroad.

Juhani Alanen, Executive Director of the Finland Tampere Film Festival, said Vietnamese short films are highly rated in terms of both content and expression. However, film makers are yet to have a clear strategy for short film production to meet public demand for both information and entertainment.

He suggested Vietnamese film makers send their films to compete at international film festivals and contests to publicise their works.
