The organising board announced at a press briefing in Hanoi on May 4 that 22 domestic and foreign groups have registered to take part in the event.
This is the first time that Vietnam has included tourism in the event. The winning films will be screened at the International Cinema Television Sports festival in Italy in October.
Nguyen Xuan Vinh, director of the Centre for Cinema, Sports and Tourism and head of the organising board said that the festival is aimed at promoting Vietnam’s land, people and culture as well as restoring, preserving and developing traditional sports and games.
During the festival, many activities will be held, such as a contest to write scripts for films, and sports and tourism television programmes, a photo exhibition, voting for Ha Long Bay as a world natural heritage, and a walk for the environment.
