Festival Hue 2008, entitled “Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development”, will officially take place from June 3-11 this year with the participation of a wide range of traditional and contemporary art troupes from 27 countries in Europe, Asia, the Americas and Oceania.

This year’s event will be of special significance as Hue celebrates 15 years of the Hue ancient city relics being recognized as a world cultural heritage and five years of Hue royal music being recognized as one of mankind’s intangible classic works.

The festival will include many lively art programmes, including the recreation of the enthronement of Emperor Quang Trung in 1788, and communal activities such as boat races, kite flying, lion dances, culinary contests, calligraphy and martial arts performances.

An international month-long sculpture camp will be launched at Albaline Resort (Phu Van district, Hue city) on May 3 as part of Festival Hue 2008.
