Female duo win silver at 2013 Fernbaby Auckland Int’l
(VOV) -The Vietnamese badminton pair Le Thu Huyen and Pham Nhu Thao has successfully brought home a silver medal from the women’s doubles competition at New Zealand’s 2013 Fernbaby Auckland International.
Despite entering the tournament unseeded, Huyen and Thao progressed to a final showdown against the UK’s Tracy Hallam and the host’s Renuga Veeran.
The Vietnamese double were beaten 12-21 and 7-21 after 30 minutes of competition.
Huyen had earlier defeated Indonesia’s Josephine Leonnida in the singles division to set up a semi-final against the tournament’s second seed Fontaine Mica.
Her great efforts were not enough to overcome her strong UK opponent, losing—in 46 minutes—12-21, 13-21, and 17-21.
