Aalto’s designs marked his warm humanity and strong individuality. His buildings derive their aesthetic character from their dynamic relationship with their natural surroundings, superb details and ingenious use of lighting.
A variety of furniture and other objects designed by the architect are also on display. By utilising natural materials and unique treatments, his interior decorations are all in harmony with the architectural style of the house they are in.

Alvar Aalto was born in Finland in 1898. After graduating with honours from Helsinki University of Technology in 1921, he started his career using the Classic Nordic style. He eventually adapted to the symbolism and functionalism of the Modern Movement to generate his plans and designs. They depict the organic relationship between man, nature and buildings and show an exceptional modern approach which is still a source of inspiration to modern architects worldwide.
The exhibition, co-organised by the Embassy of Finland in Vietnam, the Vietnam Association of Architects and the Alvar Aalto Museum, will be on show at the VietArt Centre, 42 Yet Kieu, Hanoi until May 1.
