A photo exhibition opened in Hanoi on November 4 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the visit to Vietnam by late President Kim Il-sung of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the first anniversary of the DPRK visit by Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh.

Prominent at the exhibition are photos of the meetings between President Kim Il-sung and President Ho Chi Minh in 1958 and between Party General Secretary Kim Jong Il and his Vietnamese counterpart Nong Duc Manh in the DPRK in 2007.

Addressing its opening ceremony, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) Vu Xuan Hong described the 1958 visit by Kim Il-sung as a great spiritual assistance to the Vietnamese people’s struggle for independence and national reunification.

The Chairman of the DPRK-Vietnam Friendship Association, Mun Chae Chol, said the meeting between General Secretary Kim Jong Il and General Secretary Manh in Pyong-yang in October 2007 was a great event that opened a new page in the two countries’ relations.

On the same day, the VUFO presented Chairman Mun Chae Chol with the “For Peace and Friendship among Nations” badge in recognition of his contributions to boosting friendship and cooperation between the two peoples.
