A photo exhibition on Vietnamese people opened at the Goethe Institute in Hanoi on April 27, displaying 40 photos taken by Dr. Nobert Moos from Germany.
The exhibition, entitled “Chan dung Vietnam - Mot cai nhin tu ben ngoai” (Vietnam Portrait - A look from outside), featured different classes of Vietnamese people from 1855 to 1915.
During the colonial period, foreign photographers, especially French photographers, took many photos of the country, residential areas and people in occupied areas. In Indochina, they left a large data store of thousands of photos, many of which depict the daily lives of Vietnamese people in the early part of the 20th century.
The exhibition, which will last until May 15, soured some pictures from storage for the event.
