The exhibition highlights works of Vietnamese artists such as Thanh Chuong, Le Thiet Cuong and Pham Luan, each of whom has a distinctive style.
“Vietnamese fine arts have prominent characteristics such as the combination of occidental and oriental as well as modern and traditional values,” said
Ha Hye-hoon, lecturer from Dankook University.
However, he added that Vietnam’s fine arts receive little attention from the public and do not have a large domestic market. “Artists are mainly supported by foreigners and Vietnamese expatriates,” Mr Hye-hoon emphasized. Meanwhile, the fine arts market in Korea is thriving due to large numbers of art lovers as well as activities by companies or social organizations.
The event, held by the Korean Cultural Centre in Vietnam and a Korean international exchange foundation, will last till November 3.
