A series of cultural and intellectual activities will take place during the 2012 European Days program in Vietnam, according to a press briefing in Hanoi on May 3.

The event aims to strengthen the relationship between European countries and Vietnam.

European Days promises to be unique and impressive, with concerts by four German artists in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City on May 9 and 10, respectively. Free tickets are available at Goethe Institute from May 4.

Black Voices, a music band from the UK, will perform in HCM City on May 20 and in Hanoi on May 21.

An exhibition entitled “Riverscape In Flux” will be held in HCM City from May 12 to 26 to display artworks by 17 young artists from Southeast Asia, with a focus on new images of rivers, following socio-economic development and ecological changes.

A European film festival will also take place, screening 15 films, including some Oscar winners.

Meanwhile, the second European Literature Day will be held in Hanoi by the European Union of National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC). It will introduce many books from Italy, Spain, Belgium, Germany, the UK, Denmark and Poland, which are translated into Vietnamese.

EU ambassadors will join exchange programs with students in HCM City and Binh Dinh province, where seminars on Vietnam-EU trade relations will be held on May 16 and 18, respectively.

Round-table discussions will be organized in Hanoi on May 22 and in HCM City on May 29 to highlight the increasing role of women in family and society.

Festivals of European cuisine and comic books will also take place as part of the event.
