“Ca Tru (ceremonial singing) preservation - A Vietnamese music quintessence” is the major theme of a ceremony organised by the Ca Tru Club in Hang Bac ward, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi, on June 9 night.

The ceremony aims to announce the club’s programme on the restoration, preservation and development of ceremonial singing at Hanoi Old Quarters.

Accordingly, the club will perform every Sunday night within 60 minutes and is scheduled to increase the number of performances to 2-3 days per week from 2012.

In October, 2009, the folk music genre was recognised as the intangible cultural heritage by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).

The Hanoi Ca Tru Club was established in 1991 by actress Le Thi Bach Van, an official of the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
