Visitors to the Interfood Indonesia 2011 have shown keen interest in Vietnam’s processed seafood.

Participating in the event were 16 Vietnamese businesses and 214 businesses from 37 other countries.

Speaking at the opening ceremony on September 29, Indonesian Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Fadel Muhammad, said it is the country’s biggest annual exhibition to introduce food, drinks, additives, processing technologies, raw materials, and services. It offers a good chance for businesses to get access advanced technologies and for customers to buy high quality products.

Minister Fadel and Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry D.Salim visited the Vietnamese stands filled with different kinks of food products.

On the occasion, the Vietnamese Trade Office in Indonesia in coordination with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and other relevant Indonesian agencies held the first seminar on Halal food to help Vietnamese businesses better understand the growing demand for such kinds of food from Indonesia and other Islamic countries.
