Eighty-two doctoral laureate steles under the early Le, Mac and late Le dynasties (1442-1779) in Van Mieu (Temple of Literature) in Hanoi has been officially listed in UNESCO’s Global Memory of the World Programme.
The system of doctoral laureate steles is among 45 new documents and collections approved by UNESCO General Director Irina Bokova on May 26.
Ms Irina said by helping protect and share precious documentary heritages, UNESCO’s Global Memory of the World Programme highlighted the wisdom and creativity of different cultures around the world.
As many as 238 global heritages, including stone, plastic, animal leather and audio tapes have been listed in UNESCO’s Global Memory of the World Programme.
The programme was launched in 1992 to prevent invaluable documentary heritages from falling into oblivion and encourage countries to better preserve and promote the value of their heritages.
