In 2006, the Ministry of Defence launched a movement to promote technical initiatives. The awards council collected 153 works and initiatives from 256 authors and groups of authors.
At the awards ceremony held in Hanoi on March 24, the council presented 13 first prizes, 21 second prizes, 29 third prizes, and 34 consolation prizes.
*** The same day, speaking at a meeting to mark the 76th anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in Ho Chi Minh City, the secretary of the city’s Youth Union, Tat Thanh Cang called on students and young people to fulfil the five important tasks of the Youth Union in the new period. Eight secretaries from district’s Youth Union were awarded the Ho Hao Hon prize – the highest prize of the Ho Chi Minh City’s Youth Union.
*** In central Binh Dinh province on March 24, work started on the construction of a youth centre covering an area of 30,000 m2 in Quang Trung district of Quy Nhon City. The centre costs VND23.19 billion in total investment capital in which VND14.27 billion comes from the HCM Communist Youth Union and the remainder from Binh Dinh province. The project is expected to be completed by 2009.
*** “Youth Month” campaign has been launched for nearly a month in southern An Giang province, attracting a large number of local young people who have actively taken part in practical activities such as providing care for poor households and families of social policy beneficiaries, upgrading infrastructure facilities to help improve people’s living standards in remote and mountainous areas.
