Denmark will provide US$165,000 to support dialogue between cultural managers and opinion makers at central level to develop arts and cultural identity in Vietnam.

An agreement to this effect was signed in Hanoi on September 29 by Vice Minister of Culture and Information Tran Chien Thang and Danish Ambassador to Vietnam Peter Lysholt Hansen.

The project, which will be carried out from 2006 to 2010, aims to promote dialogue and understanding of cultural identity and development of the role of the arts in modern Vietnamese society.

The project is an integral part of Denmark's cultural support strategy for Vietnam during the 2006-2010 period with a total grant of US$2.5 million. Children, ethnic minorities and young artists will benefit from the strategy.
