The 13th National Youth Martial Arts Tournament opened in the central highland province of Dak Lak on June 15, attracting 310 athletes from 29 cities and provinces across the country.
They will take part in 17 demonstration events and compete in 20 combat events (12 for males and 8 for females) in different weight categories.
This year’s tournament has involved strong teams from Hanoi, Ho Chi MInh City, Binh Dinh, Danang, Can Tho, An Giang and Nghe An.
The annual event aims to encourage young people to train in traditional martial arts as well as athletes to improve their skills in preparation for international tournaments.
