The Da Lat Flower Festival 2007, to be held from December 15-22, is expected to attract about 70,000 visitors, the festival organising board announced at a press briefing in Hanoi on October 1.

Truong Van Thu, Deputy Chairman of the central Highlands province of Lam Dong, who is also head of the festival’s organising board, said the cultural festival full of typical characteristics of the Central Highlands city aims to promote flowers and the horticulture.

On the first day of the event, an international exhibition of flowers will be held to introduce flower growing regions in Vietnam, ASEAN member countries, and flowers from the Netherlands, China, and Japan.

Other events will include a gastronomy fair with tea, flowers and wine, a trade and tourism fair, a seminar to promote investment and art performances. Visitors will also have the chance to witness a beauty contest for Vietnamese ethnic minority groups.
