Vietnamese athletes are participating in the Asian Cycling Championships which began in Malaysia on February 8.

Mai Nguyen Hung and Ho Van Phuc are competing in the men's professional category while Nguyen Thi That and Nguyen Pham Ngoc Trinh are racing in the women's event.

The quartet represents the best of Vietnamese cyclists, but their chances of success are unsure. In Kuala Lumpur, they are to compete against strong rivals from China, Japan and Kazakhstan.

Vietnam will also send young riders to take part in the Asian Junior Cycling Championships which coincides with the senior competition, and among them, Trinh Duc Tam, Ho Huynh Van An and Nguyen Luu Thanh Nhan are expected to bring home victory.

To prepare for the tournament, athletes have been training since the beginning of the year in HCM City. They will leave for Malaysia on February 12.
