Ho Chi Minh City Television Station, Channel 3, (HTV3) is set to show Seoul Broadcasting Studio’s Golden Bride, a soap opera featuring the Vietnamese people and culture which was shown in Korea in 2007.
Starting at 8pm on February 9, the 64-episode serial tells the story of Lee Young Ah, a half-Vietnamese girl, married to a Korean man and searching for the Korean father she has never known.
Their arranged marriage later becomes a contract with both of them agreeing not to fall in love with the other, fuelling a family conflict that is also deeply rooted in cultural differences.
Award-winning Vietnamese actors Nhu Quynh and Tat Binh are casted as the girl’s blind mother and an ophthalmologist.
Her role established Lee as one of the Republic of Korea’s 10 best actors in 2007, while Nhu Quynh was recognised as SBS’s best foreign actor.
