Nearly 1,000 Vietnamese and foreign students attended an arts festival on November 12 in Hanoi to welcome the 14th APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting.

A special performance, entitled "Colour of Culture", by students from the Hanoi University raised the curtain of the "Friendly Melody" festival. It featured unique traditional dances of Vietnam, Japan, Russia, China and Laos.


Students from the Finance Institute brought to the festival a collection of colourful traditional clothes of girls from APEC member economies.


The festival also saw many music and dance performance praising youth and the friendship and solidarity among nations around the world. It was organised by the Communist Youth Union and the Hanoi Students' Association.


On the same day, an exhibition of nearly 300 images and documents about 21 APEC member economies opened at the Exhibition and Fine Arts Centre in the northern city of Hai Phong.
