”Green dreams” cultural exchange programme was launched in Hanoi on November 17 by the Ministry of Education and Training to celebrate Vietnam Teachers’ Day.

In his speech, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thien Nhan congratulated more than 1 million teachers throughout the country to commemorate the day and praised outstanding teachers for their great contributions to improving education over the past few years.

Vietnam is facing new opportunities and challenges to keep pace with other countries in the region and the world. Therefore, the education sector should be completely reformed from the ground up with a focus on increasing the quality of human resources. Schools need to build a healthy and transparent education system and raise the quality of training without patronage and favoritism, said Mr Nhan.

He also called on teachers to constantly improve their professional morality and skills so as to make a greater contribution to improving education.

On the occasion, the Organisational Board presented more than VND600 million contributed by individuals and businesses along with notebooks, notebooks and teaching aids to poor teachers in a number of cities and provinces and schools greatly damaged by the recent flooding.
