French and Vietnamese artists will form a quintet of chords and keys in a concert performing popular pieces written for the five chord musical instruments by Mozart, Antonin Dvorak and Weber on March 6 at the HCM City Conservatoire.

The event is a part of a cultural exchange programme between the conservatoire and France.

The two French artists performing at the concert will be Sylvie Gazeau and Jerome Lefranc. The Vietnamese artists are Nguyen Huu Nguyen, Le Tri Toan, Nguyen Truc Thuyen, Tran Hoang Yen, Pham Hai Long, Vu Thanh Hao, Le Ho Hai and Nguyen Tuan Loc.

Violinist Sylvie Gazeau, whose fame extends far beyond her native country, was named France’s best violinist in 1979. Besides teaching at the Paris Conservatoire, Sylvie often gives lectures and performs in the US, Japan and China. This will be her second performance in HCM City.

Cellist Lefranc, who holds as master degree from the Lyon Conservatoire, is a member of the “Philharmonia de Londres” band. Lefranc has participated in many musical festivals and used to play the violin and cello solo in “L’Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse” and “L’Orchestre Lamoureux” orchestras.

Musician Nguyen Huu Nguyen, is former student of HCM City Conservatoire and was taught by Sylvie Gazeau at the Paris Conservatoire.

In another programme, on March 8, artist Dang Ngoc Giang Quan, lecturer at the HCM City Conservatoire, will play famous works written by Mozart, Mascagni and Beethoven in a piano concert accompanied by the HCM City Conservatoire orchestra conducted by Meritorious Artist Tran Vuong Thach.
