The Ministry of Culture and Information has submitted to the Prime Minister a document nominating Con Moong Cave in Thanh Hoa province as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage site.

Associate Prof., Dr. Nguyen Khac Su from the Vietnam Archaeology Institute (VAI) said the cave was discovered in 1975 and excavated in 1976.

Con Moong Cave depicts the constant human development in the prehistoric age from the Old Stone Age to the New Stone Age. This stage of development was a great achievement for humankind, said Mr Sụ

However, to be nominated for the World Heritage title, Mr Su said there should be co-operation in research among the culture sector, Cuc Phuong National Park and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).
